Six of the Best for Britain’s Sam Smith

Rookie soul star Sam Smith flies the Union Jack at the up-and-coming Grammy awards after being nominated for six Grammy awards.

Sam SmithThe 22 year old from London is on a par with the Queen of pop, Beyoncé and the man of the year, Pharrell Williams, in terms of nominations. Smith has had a hugely popular year with his first album In the Lonely Hour which has been not only hugely successful in the UK, but a real breakthrough in the all-important US market.

Smith has been been shortlisted for huge awards, including Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo. He has also been given the nod for Prized Record of the Year with his massively popular single, Stay With Me.

The singer couldn’t hide his huge excitement, and later tweeted to his fans: “WHAT IS GOING ON!! 6 GRAMMY NOMINATIONS. Dear Lord.”

Smith has also been lined up to win the Best New Artist award, which will do wonders for his career. It is rumored in the industry that Smith will provide the title song for the new Bond film Spectre. He really is turning into the female Adele!

He has already been picking up various awards in the US, including the best pop/rock male at the American Music Awards in LA.

Other nominations from Britain at the Grammy awards include Bastille and Ed Sheeran. Ginger hero Sheeran has had a huge year globally and will go up against Smith for best album, as well as Beck, Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams and Coldplay, who also feature from the UK.

For those interested to see how Smith, Sheeran and the other’s get on – the 57th Grammy awards will take place in Los Angeles on 9th February 2015.
