Murs Quits X Factor to Concentrate on 5th Album

After a whirlwind romance with presenting the X Factor, Mr “Live-F**k-Up”, Olly Murs himself, has chosen to leave the show to concentrate fully on his music. Today, he is one of the UK’s most successful artists, but he has chosen to split from the show, leaving his co-presenter Caroline Flack’s role up in the air.

Murs famously made one of the biggest talent show mess-ups after prematurely announcing contestant Monica Michael’s elimination on the live results show back in November. The issue led fans to believe the show was a fix when Murs revealed the contestant would be going home before he was given the envelope containing the deadlock decision – silly Murs!

Social media went into meltdown, celebrity friends issued a show of confidence, but it never felt quite the same for Murs after.

This is what he has to say on leaving the show: “This was an incredibly hard decision to make and one I didn’t take lightly as I’ve really enjoyed co-hosting the X Factor with Caroline Flack”. He then explains…

“It’s been one big adventure and I loved every minute of it but my heart belongs to music and I want to concentrate 100 per cent on making my next album and getting back to performing.”

He has had to inform owner of the show and entertainment group, Simon Cowell, of the news. Cowell has said “Since appearing on the X Factor Olly has become a household name and a real star. Working with him has always been great fun. It was fantastic having him on the X Factor last year and now this year he has to concentrate on his new album. In addition to this, we have agreed to work on some other TV projects together in the future”.
