Website Updates

It’s been a while since I posted anything, and updated the site at all if I’m being honest, so you will be pleased to know that I have made some changes to the cheap MP3 music archive.

I realised that the pages in this section were hard to use and made it difficult to find the songs/albums/artists you were looking for. Therefore, I have added pagination to each of the lettered pages and the artists are now ordered by popularity (with a handy star rating system!).

Please feel free to let me know what you think, and any suggestions you may have for the site in general.

New "unlimited music" service to launch

In the latest attempt to crack-down on illegal music downloads through services such as file-sharing, p2p networks, Universal Music have teamed up with Virgin Media to offer a monthly subscription service which will allow users to download unlimited amounts of music.

The fee is thought to be around £10-£15 when launched, and when it is, check back here for a review of this unlimited music service.

The question I am most often asked about the MP3 websites I review is “Are their services legal?”. It is a very valid question, as you would not think it would be possible to download music so cheaply.

But, as this link will testify and explain in more detail, the distribution laws from the country these sites are based in are different, making it legal for you to download cheap MP3s for personal use!

Beat the iTunes price increase!

If you hadn’t heard, iTunes, Apples amazingly popular digital music download service, has recently increased the prices of the 33 most popular songs in it’s Top 100 seller list. This price increase means that instead of paying 99 cents for one of these tracks, you will now have to fork out $1.25.

While we realise that this isn’t a huge amount of money, it is worth highlighting the fact that for $1.25 on LegalSounds, for example, you can get a whole album! Check out our reviews of LegalSounds and other websites that offer cheap MP3 music downloads on our MP3 website review page.
